The fried full breakfast has been a staple menu dish since…. well forever.

A favourite that has been enjoyed over many years with different variations. However now prepared in the air fryer, has the traditional method using a grill or hot plate has now been replaced?

Another delicious air fryer chicken recipe! The chicken remains so juicy, oozing with gooey mozzarella cheese, wrapped up in crispy bacon with sticky BBQ sauce. These instructions are for two portions but you can scale the quantity as needed.

The ham & cheese toastie has been passed down through generations, learnt within the student halls of residence, through to graduation and beyond. The old method using a grill or sandwich maker has now been replaced by the air fryer.

This delicious fully loaded fried breakfast is so easy to make in an air fryer when you follow this recipe. Just add all of your favourite breakfast ingredients on top of a layer of chunky chips, fries or hash browns.

Air-fried Hasselback Halloumi Chicken

This is a four ingredient air fried hasselback halloumi chicken recipe. This is one of those easy dinners that is just so delicious and simple to prepare.

Incidentally, Hasselbacking is a method of cooking that was created around the late 1940’s or early 1950’s in a restaurant called Hasselbacken in Stockholm, Sweden. The restaurant is part the Hasselbacken Hotel which is very close to the ABBA Museum if you are going to visit Stockholm.

Anyway, let’s get back to the recipe. This is what you will need and how you make it;

 

Ingredients

  • chicken breasts
  • 25g halloumi cheese (per chicken breast) light halloumi tastes better
  • 2 tsp harissa (per chicken breast)
  • 2 tsp honey (per chicken breast)

 

 

Method

  1. Hasselback some chicken breasts – usually 4-5 cuts should be enough
  2. Add half a slice of halloumi into each slit that you cut
  3. Then mix 2 tsp harissa and 2 tsp honey (per breast)
  4. Brush this all over the chicken and halloumi. Spend time getting right in the cracks
  5. Air fry for around 18-22 mins at 180 degrees but it will depend on the weight and how thick the chicken breasts you are using are.
  6. Baste with a little more of the harissa & honey mix halfway through cooking as this will only help to make the chicken so deliciously juicy.

 

These stuffed chicken & bacon breasts can be served with many combinations including the following popular suggestions:

  • Hash browns, sweetcorn or mushrooms and a white wine sauce
  • New potatoes, vegetables and a peppered sauce

 

The chicken is approx 310 cals / 520g protein and the whole meal (with broccoli and potatoes) is approx 475 cals / 59g protein

Air Fried Stuffed Chicken Breast with Bacon

This will make 3 portions of a delicious stuffed chicken breast wrapped in streaky bacon. Scale it up or down to suit the numbers that you are feeding.

 

Ingredients

– 3 medium sized chicken breasts
– 300g of thin streaky bacon (make sure it is thin streaky bacon, NOT thick slices)
– 300g of breadcrumb stuffing

 

Method

  1. Slice the chicken breast along the side to create a pocket
  2. Fill that pocket with the breadcrumb stuffing
  3. Wrap the thin streaky bacon around each chicken breast
  4. Now put the chicken breasts into your air fryer for 17-18 minutes at 190 degrees.

 

If you’re using larger chicken breasts, increase the time for 19-20 mins and turn them halfway through to get an even cook. You may need to adjust your time slightly depending on your air fryer.

 

Tip: When cooking exceptionally large chicken breasts in our Ninja Air Fryer (Foodi Max Duel Zone), we increased the cooking time to 24-26 minutes. As always with chicken, it is important to check the it is cooked all the way through before serving.

 

If you are using an conventional oven to cook them, 35 minutes or so at 180 should be about right,  but always check that you have fully cooked the chicken through.
